Gary & Esi
The Grove & London Hilton Park Lane - 13th August
I was very excited for this particular wedding shoot as it was my first Chinese Wedding Ceremony. Esi and her parents are originally from Hong Kong and Gary and his family are from China so it was really important to both families that a traditional Chinese tea ceremony was included in the proceedings of the day. The ceremony took place at The Grove in Watford and when I first saw Esi on the morning of the wedding she was already dressed in her traditional Chinese ceremonial red gown. To say she looked stunning was an understatement - the combination of the colours of the dress combined with her traditional Chinese style of hair and makeup was breath taking... Gary was a lucky man!
Gary arrived to the hotel in his matching Chinese ceremonial gown and the Chinese tea ceremony was soon underway. Gary and Esi both had to bow and offer the gift of tea to both sets of parents who in turn would offer back money and jewellery to the couple as a sign of their blessing. Once the ceremony was over, Esi then changed into a beautiful ballgown wedding dress ready for her legal ceremony at St Albans Registry Office. Before we headed off we had an hour or so to take photos in the grounds of The Grove which was great fun, especially as we found two giant deck chairs to play around in.
After the legalities were completed and more photos were taken in the grounds, we headed down to the Park Lane Hilton in London for the reception. Given that there were only 40 or so guests the reception was beautifully intimate with stunning views of Hyde Park. A really wonderful and unique wedding for me, one which I won't be forgetting for a while!
