Laura & Steve
Parklands Quendon Hall
Laura and Steve were originally meant to tie the knot in Dubai back in May of this year but unfortunately due to sad circumstances they had to cancel their wedding and move it back to England. They chose Parklands Quendon Hall which although isn't quite Dubai, it's a wonderful alternative. The house and grounds were absolutely beautiful and given that it was a gorgeous hot and sunny day, Laura & Steve couldn't have picked a better place or time to have their wedding.
The day started with photos of Laura and her family getting ready upstairs in the bridal suite. The big grand bed in the middle of the room made for a great central feature for the photos. Laura had her 3 nieces as bridesmaids and they were hilarious as they ran around the room in their mini 'bridesmaid' dressing gowns. Laura looked simply beautiful and when it came to the moment that her dad saw her for the first time, even I was holding back the tears - a truly special moment.
The wedding ceremony was being held outside in front of the fountain with the house and sweeping landscape as a background. Even the deer in the fields came out to see what was going on - what timing! With the sun shining, and not a cloud in the sky we couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting.
After the ceremony we moved inside to do the confetti shot which went really well. Steve spent most of the walk down the tunnel with his eyes closed as he was being hit left, right and centre by petals! I then grouped everyone together for the group shot where I ran upstairs to a bedroom and managed to shoot down - the perfect position for such a large group.
We smashed through the formal photos meaning that Laura and Steve had more time to chill out with their guests. Although every time we thought we'd finished, two more guests would come running over for a photo... the joy of being the bride and groom at your own wedding!
The guests were soon ushered into the marquee for the wedding breakfast. They were sung into the room by Laura & Steve's wedding band 'The Function Band'. I've had the pleasure of seeing many bands in my time as a photographer and I have to say these guys were the absolute best! Apparently there is 3 year waiting list for them so it was fate that they were available on the day Laura and Steve wanted them. They sang the whole way through the wedding breakfast and got the guests up and involved the whole way through. The atmosphere was amazing and this was during dinner!!
Once everyone had calmed down, it was time for the speeches. It just shows how loved Laura and Steve both are as there wasn't just the usual 3 speeches, there was 5! Laura's sister and best friends also said a few words and there wasn't a dry eye in the place by the end.
After the speeches, everyone dried their eyes and filled up their drinks ready for the cutting of the cake and first dance. The sun was just starting to go down and on came the fairy lights that covered the roof of the marquee, it looked really beautiful and a perfect setting for the first dance.
Given that Laura and Steve and their whole family had been through a really tough time over the last few months this was such a wonderful moment for everyone. Laura, Steve and their family and friends all joined up into one big circle, each person with their arms around the next. It was such a special moment and there was so much love for both of them. Every aspect of the day was perfect - the venue, the staff, the guests and even the British weather! I was honoured to be a part of this day and I wish Laura and Steve all the love and luck in the world for their future together!
