Kate & Andy
Offley Place - 31st July
Kate and Andrew tied the knot at the stunning Offley Place Hotel in Hitchin on Sunday 31st July. I had met the lovely couple a few weeks previous where we went through all the details of their wedding day. It was during this meeting that I realised what an easy going and chilled out couple they were - a perfect match for each other... and me.
Kate and Andrew didn't want any fuss, or to be taken away for a prolonged amount of time for any cheesy, awkward photos, but just wanted the photography to be very informal and natural. We did a few posed family photos straight after the ceremony of the bridal party and immediate family and I grabbed a few of the bride and groom by themselves but the rest of the day was all about the guests and just capturing everyone enjoying themselves.
My favourite shots from this wedding were during the speeches when Andrew and Kate got the serious giggles during Andrew's speech. It was so contagious and I had to keep reminding myself to concentrate on the job at hand! The laughter carried on into a game of Mr and Mrs that the Best Men had arranged and even more hilarious revelations were shared.
After dinner the Best Men came up to me and explained that they wanted to get some shots of them playing cricket. A strange request for a wedding day but could be fun I thought. It was only when we all went outside did I find out that it was actually 'invisible cricket' with no bat or ball and just cricket role-play, something that the guys did a lot apparently! I didn't know what was going on half the time, but the guys were hilarious running around and celebrating when they bowled Andy out. Definitely some shots I won't be forgetting in a while!
Before we knew it, the cake was cut and it was time for the first dance. The guests quickly joined Kate and Andy on the dance floor and the dancing carried on well into the night. Kate and Andrew are such a great couple and they were surrounded by fantastic family and friends - I really loved being part of their special day. They not only made it incredibly easy for me to photograph their wedding, but I had so much fun doing it.
