Tracey & James

The wedding of Tracey and James at Fanhams Hall - 29th March 2016

Tracey and James got in touch with me back in July last year and asked if I would be able to spare just a few hours to photograph their wedding at the beautiful Fanhams Hall. Tracey mentioned that they only wanted a few hours as it was just a small intimate wedding and a photographer there for the whole day was just going to be too much. After meeting with the couple and their gorgeous 3 year old daughter Ashleigh, I was very excited to be able to be a part of this special day. I've photographed at Fanhams Hall a few times before and have always loved shooting at this venue. The grounds are spectacular and every corner you turn leads you to a whole new style and look, making all the photos really varied... a photographers dream!

I got there a little earlier than agreed so it allowed me to get some sneaky photos of James and his guests mingling before the ceremony started. The ceremony was being held in the drawing room, a small but grand looking room where small wedding ceremonies are performed.

The ceremony was really beautiful with Tracey's 3 bridesmaids and Ashleigh as a flower girl leading the way. Tracey wore a simple but striking gown which certainly wowed her 'husband to be' as she walked down the aisle!

Tracey & James' wedding guests had a great surprise for the couple - when the registrar announced them as 'husband and wife' there was a eruption of gold party poppers, most of which were aimed at their heads! A great photo opportunity for me, although I'm not sure the staff were as impressed when they had to clean it all up - oh well!

After the signing of the register, I asked everyone to join me outside for the formal photos. I always ask my couples to make a list of 'must have' group photos so I know I'm not missing anything. Given that it was March and pretty cold outside we managed to work through them quite quickly which the guests were very happy about. Not only was I keeping them away from the warmth, but more importantly... the bar! Before I let everyone escape I managed to get a great group shot from a window on the top floor. From that height and given the small number of guests, I was able to arrange everyone in a heart shape which looked fab and one shot that Tracey and James really appreciated when looking back over the photos.

My time at the wedding was nearly up but we did just have a few more minutes to head out into the grounds to take some shots of just Tracey and James by themselves. They were both great sports and were willing to try anything I asked. Tracey was even happy to head out onto the grass in her white shoes... in muddy March - what a trooper!

I got along so well with Tracey & James and it was a privilege to photograph their day - A really great Tuesday afternoon for this photographer!

Testimonial from Tracey & James

'I came across GK Studios website whilst searching for a wedding photographer online. I was attracted to the information on the website stating they had a relaxed, informal approach which was exactly what we were looking for, as our wedding was a small informal gathering. (Also, the fact that Gemma was very flexible as we only needed someone for a couple of hours and most websites are very rigid on their costs and don’t seem to take into account some couples do not want someone snapping at them all day!)

When we met Gemma to go through requirements, we couldn’t have wished for a more genuine, nicer person who made us feel very much at ease and made everything go very smoothly. Gemma always came straight back to me with any queries.

On the day, Gemma blended in like one of the guests and was so professional, sometimes we didn’t even know she was there! It was brilliant to have Gemma there taking the pressure off formal photographs, getting a smile out of a reluctant toddler and gathering people to get guests out of the windy weather promptly.

We received our photos very quickly, Gemma made sure she delivered them in person before we went on honeymoon and we were very happy with them. We wouldn’t hesitate to use Gemma (GK Studios) again as they provide a professional, efficient, easy service and it is lovely to see someone who really enjoys and takes pride in their work.'
